What is the KidVentures Podcast?

Several years ago Nick began podcasting with his brother – interviewing authors, talking about book publishing, and more! One evening after dinner, Nick’s wife RaeAnna said “you know, you should do a podcast about writing for kids! You made the amazing Writing Tips for Kids series on YouTube and did such a good job with the Hapis Chronicles project….what if you merged both of those ideas into a podcast for kids?” (To see what the Hapis Chronicles project was, click here!)

And that is how this idea was born! Every episode includes a story idea from a kid! Nick takes that story, writes it for audio production, and then shares it in the episode! Kids can come up with the coolest ideas for stories! I mean, who would have thought about creating a mutant villain out of a banana?! The special thing about our podcast is that it is created entirely from homeschoolers! Nick and RaeAnna were both homeschooled in the 1980s-1990s and have carried on that tradition to their children. The guiding principle in their homeschool is to protect childhood. Cultural influence and evil has crept into mainstream media where children are no longer safe from certain ideological ideas. We are happy to provide a fun, silly, and safe form of entertainment to your family and build up a love of books, literature, and storytelling.

Our episodes will be listed on the Patreon page and members can join for early access and special extras!

Nick, RaeAnna, Christian and Eva Mae will be working hard each episode bringing you the fun, silly, and safe entertainment.

Nick is an author of the middle grade fantasy series The Traveler’s League that you will hear about in the episodes. Christian and Eva Mae were the inspiration behind this book series. Each night while putting the kids to bed, instead of reading books like we usually do, Nick started creating a new story filled with portals, new worlds, and a magic timepiece! Christian would ask each night for a “new chapter” and that is when Nick began writing these stories down for his children. A seed was planted and stories began to grow!

RaeAnna is also an author. Her resources are created for the homeschool family to help learn music. RaeAnna studied piano and music education at Lee University and has spent the last 20 years teaching music in the public schools, home school, and preschool communities. She also loves working with piano students one on one in her studio. You can find her book Composer Study Companion on Amazon and individual composer guides on digital download at her website.

Christian is the coolest teenager. He spends his free time building Legos, weapons (bow and arrow is the current project of choice), and studying magic tricks to astound his parents and friends! He is talented on both the piano and baritone, playing with our local homeschool concert band. When he is not pursuing these interests and hobbies he loves to play MineCraft at his grandma’s house down the road!

Eva Mae is a published author, having worked closely with Nick at writing and publishing the Mermicorn on Amazon! She also loves writing scripts and directing home made movies. She uses Christian as the cameraman and he helps her edit the movies on Nick’s computer. You can usually find her typing on Google Docs or playing with friends!
